There are some days you just need some comfort food. For our family, this is it! We mix it up and prepare in different ways. Sometimes with pasta, other times as a sandwich or just as meatballs with a side of garlic bread. Either way, you can’t go wrong.

- 1 lb mild Italian pork sausage
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/3 cup yellow onion, finely chopped
- 2 tsp garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp parsley, chopped
- 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup shredded parmesan, plus more for serving
- 48 oz crushed tomatoes
- 6 oz tomato paste
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt & pepper to taste

- Cheese (mozzarella, parmesan)

Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Combine pork sausage, ground beef, onion, garlic, parsley, breadcrumbs, eggs and parmesan in a mixing bowl.
Step 2
Roll into 2 inch meatballs and place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
Step 3
Broil meatballs until just browning, about 4 minutes.
Step 4
Remove meatballs from oven and place in slow cooker or instant pot.
Step 5
Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, red pepper flakes and Italian seasoning.
Step 6
Cook on low for 4-6 hours. Serve warm with parmesan and fresh basil atop pasta or on ciabatta as a sandwich.
